I started my daughter in swim classes at MCSS in PB when she was 3 months old. At first it was great, but I hadn't looked at any other schools. They push the kids hard and it's surprising what kids can do! Then she got close to a year old. They started transitioning me out of the pool and having her sit on a bench at the side between her turns. She started getting into lots of "trouble" - as did the other kids who were the same age. 1 yr. olds are expected to sit on the bench in the water, and not play too much, and not interact too much with the kids all sitting on benches around them between their turns - for about 3-5 minutes or so! Just doesn't seem like it's run by people who understand young children.

Plus the summer requirement of *having* to have 3 classes a week is exhausting for the parents at best.

I found another swim school that my daughter loves, they understand kids (they actually give kids a toy to play with while waiting for their next turn), and is respectful of a parents' desire to have any number of classes in a week, whether it be one or many.

Also, in noting the differences, MCSS seems to be more geared towards "water safety" and less geared towards learning true swimming techniques. The school we're at now is definitely slower than MCSS, but I see her learning much more about how to really *swim* as well as be safe.

As a parent with a child at MCSS (we've been there for over a year now), I'd love to see a review of your new swim school in case we ever decide to switch. We've definitely had our issues with MCSS, but really like our instructor there.
