Although I have not stayed here myself, when I recently got married, this is where all of our out-of-towners stayed, and they gave the place rave reviews. I did spend quite a bit of time visiting all our pals and family in their rooms, and I could see why they were pleased. And since then, the Suites have had a bit of remodel, to make it even nicer.

First of all, rates were quite reasonable, especially for SF area; typically a suite is around $100/night during fall and winter. They also have special rates for extended stays.

The rooms were clean, well-lit and well-appointed. Small but complete kitchens, generously-sized bedrooms, large living rooms and serviceable baths were part of the deal. Continental breakfast and a morning paper are included in the price of the room. A full list of amenities can be found here.

One of the things that our guests liked was the homey feel of the place -- set up around a courtyard with bbqs and a pool, the hotel created a place where everyone could gather and socialize. Also, a lovely outdoor mall is within walking distance (lots of choices of food here), and a movie theater is located right next door.

Close to many attractions (check out the list here), both in the City and in Marin, and easy access to great public transport such as the ferry or bus, the Marin Suites is a much better choice for lodging than anything you'd stay in the more touristy areas of say, Fisherman's Wharf, or other pricier areas of the City.

For the money, the location, the family-friendly atmosphere, Marin Suites is a hands-down winner.

I have to make an addendum here! Since writing this review, I've stayed at the Suites with my husband and child and have to say the rooms were stellar, the service was great, complimentary breakfast was fine, and we were extremely pleased with the prices.

What a gem.
