Don't let the name of the place fool you - this is a zoo, and it's really well done, very natural and flowing, highlighting the native species of the Sonora Desert. We saw the Raptor show there, which was fantastic. They release the birds from far away so they fly into the location, my son got buzzed by a Raven - unforgettable! We went on a cooler day, which was great b/c most of the animals were up and about instead of sleeping. Hummingbird house and Aviary are highlights, as is the Coati and the Bighorn Sheep exhibit.

Oooh. We just did our local zoo today (Santa Barbara) and now I'm jonesing for more local, doable zoos. Good to know for when we are in the area.
