NOTE: There are two Monuments - EAST and WEST. Both are equally stunning. Want to get up close and personal with these magnificent cactus, who only grow in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona and Mexico? Then head to one of these, where they are protected and grow large and strong. You'll see lots of native wildlife (quail, woodpeckers, roadrunners, and maybe even a Javelina), have some nice walking and driving trails.

Haven't been here since I was a kid -- thanks for the reminder! Are there places to sit and picnic? I don't remember. Also, are there places to eat nearby, perhaps after enjoying the day there?

There has been significant development by both parks, and it would not surprise me to find a restaurant nearby either of them. Both have picnic areas along with grills (charcoal).
